6/26 UPDATE: Only one opening left and then we roll. Former
Augusta team went 69-93 in the NL East last year and drafts 9th. Good rebuild option, solid minors.
6/24 UPDATE: To avoid any confusion below, there are currently TWO openings: a win-now AL option in former Salt Lake City (won their division by 20 games last year, heavy favorites to do so again, perennial contender) and a rebuild NL option in former Augusta (drafts 9th, solid minors). More detail below.
*******
Great, low-drama world with tons of longtime owners, but a couple more openings than usual this year. In particular there has been an exodus in the AL West, likely because 3 owners were very intimidated by captmurphy's 61-101 Vancouver Salmon last year. Truly a buzzsaw.
In any event, all 3 of the AL West openings are attractive. In the case of the former
Omaha [TAKEN] and
Boise [TAKEN] teams, this is because their rebuilds are well underway with some solid minor league talent, and they draft 5th and 6th. In the case of former
Salt Lake City [TAKEN], it's because they should be able to sleepwalk to a division title nearly as easily as they did last year, when they won 83 games and won the division by 20 -- they also have a non-terrible draft pick (19th).
Outside of the AL West, the remaining available team is the former
Dover [TAKEN] franchise, and I may have buried the lede here because they have the 2nd and 16th picks in this draft -- would be hard to find a better shot at an instant rebuild from the ground up than that. They also, despite their record last season, have a few very good ML players that you can decide whether to flip for more rebuilding assets or try to retain until the kids catch up. I'd probably pick this team, if it was me.
Please let me know if you have any questions! We love this world and want to fill quickly so we can get back to it.
Would love to have you join us!

6/24 UPDATE: We had an owner leave abruptly this morning so are back to TWO openings. Former Augusta team went 69-93 in the NL East last year and drafts 9th. Another rebuild if you missed out on the three that were already taken.
