The Dreaded 24 Rules League

Many, many years ago, when WIS hockey was more popular; when it didn’t take a month to fill a league; when owners didn’t have to enter 2 teams to guarantee a league would fill quickly; when admin actually cared about the hockey part of WI; a most novel theme league was proposed and filled rather quickly. As my feeble memory serves me, the owner that undertook starting this league was one of the original Sapheads, “bigbuzz”. I would like to resurrect it from the ashes and see if it will fill in a halfway reasonable time.

Salary cap is $110 million. No clones, No ML’ers, No shootouts, No lasting injuries or suspensions, as per usual No Wayne or Mario.

What you need to do is post a draft criterion for all teams to use. If you are entering 2 teams (which many of you do), you can give 2 draft criteria. You MUST look at the previously entered criteria and make sure that the criterion you submit will work with all those submitted before. For example: If someone has stated that a maximum of 3 players can have a shooting % greater than 20%, and someone else posts that no players may have shooting % greater than 20% , obviously the second will not work. Your criteria should apply to a maximum of 3 players. Post your draft restriction(s) and wait (hopefully not for too long).

I will enter 2 teams and my 2 criteria will be:
  1. Each team must draft 3 goalies
  2. A maximum of 3 d-men may have a d-rating 90or more
Enter your criterion/criteria and I will add it to the list. Once all spots are filled you will be able to draft your team.

*** If you notice that someone’s submitted criterion cannot work with the previously submitted criteria, please post for all to see and sitemail the person involved***

In the past, there hasn't been a rule requiring the drafting of a specific player. the rules have been about the search for a player that fits within the parameters of the rule-and causing massive amounts of headaches of trying to get a player that fits within a rule, or multiple rules. i defer to the ancient one for a decision on the proposed rule

My first rule:
Ironman be damned-No player on your team (including goalies) can have played in all their teams games in the season you draft.

That would violate this line from the original post: "Your criteria should apply to a maximum of 3 players."

Oops. That’s what I get for doing this in the car. Ok, how about:
The 3 other starting defensemen used must have a d rating of 49 or less

Buster, I am going to agree with Scott and say that Cy should not be included. I am not saying he is illegal, however, the aim of the league and rules, like Scott said, are to make the draft a major challenge. Hope you understand.

This gives you exactly 4 choices:

1917-18 Cy Denneny
1919-20 Sprague Cleghorn
1973-74 Dave Schultz
1987-88 Bob Probert.

Given the other rules already out there for D-men, Cleghorn essentially can't be used, so realistically, you only have 3 choices.
