pick 1 year and 1 roster spot to claim the rights to. Your roster is filled with only selections from that year. All 23 spots. NO clones.

for your exclusive player or OL or DEF, you have the player exclusively and no other team can pick any year of that player. For the OL or DEF, you get an 11 year bubble to protect them, but must be the year of your theme and the same as the other 22 spots.

Examples: you select 1987. You want the 87 Bears DEF, your bubble just needs to contain the 87 year and the roster all 87 player/unit entries. The bubble could be 77-87 or 87-97 or up-to any 11 year consecutive span including 87.

You select 2018 Drew Brees. All spots are 2018.

Am I right that we wouldn’t really be able to enter our teams until all 24 teams have chosen their year/player? Since the 24th team’s proprietary player could be on anyone’s team up until then and then everyone that was using them would have to go back and redo their roster.

Great question. That is what makes this interesting. If someone designates a player/unit that you already rostered (not designated), it will require owners to remove and replace that player or unit. It’s the risk you take when determining your exclusive player/unit. Perhaps, you select a year with many options due to potentially leaving something unprotected.

and it may provide incentive for owners to try different roster styles (eras) and maybe not everyone jumping on 21st century assets (for fear of losing certain desired players/units). I could end up with a decent but not great qb due to the Saquan selection. And I didn’t even look at defense, I just wanted that RB for my entertainment more than anything.

We could have a 7 day limit to enter your roster after you make your claims. I don’t want to make too many rules, let’s allow this to develop naturally.

I’ll post my full roster tomorrow for 2018. Should someone designate a player/unit (in the future) that I rostered other than protected RB Saquan Barkley, then I’ll remove and replace with a different 2018 selection.

NFL29287 is launched. My full roster is copied here. A very fun build. I couldn't skimp in salary on the kicker, punter, or back up RBs. And the defenses weren't aplenty or elite in my year. But I got Roquan Smith and Khalil Mack as very nice surprises on my DEF! My roster will only be altered if someone designates a player listed here other than RB Saquan Barkley.

Something that might help everyone’s team build is grabbing a bulk of the bench guys before you get to the starters. Under normal circumstances with an endless inventory, you know those min salary roster items would be there, but there are fewer of them are available at RB, special teams, kicker, and punter for your exclusive year.

An end-in-mind approach to grab the rest of the starters may not leave you as underwhelmed versus having to downgrade starters to make room for the aforementioned more expensive supporting roster items.
