Does anyone ever do anything involving playoff  rosters, generally? I tend to ditch an extraneous pitcher for a niche position player. Someone who can either pinch hit or pinch run and might somehow provide the difference in a close game.
I tend to drop my worse two pitchers for two guys who can either pinch run, pinch hit or play defense.  Hopefully nailing all three between the two guys.  If I have enough IP in the pitchers and play in the right park, I will go with only 9 pitchers in the playoffs.

Reason I ask is I'm considering promoting this guy from AAA just for the ALDS, though he'd probably get more at-bats if I let him keep playing in the AAA WS:

Would you make this move?

If I thought I had a chance to win the WS, yes.

I'm 3 back of the 6 seed with 8 to go.  Not quite dead yet.  Unfortunately, since I close the season against Uskerman, it becomes more and more likely he'll get to be the one to eliminate me.
I'd consider resting against you if chap wasn't right on my ***.

I'm contemplating an exit from HD. Definitely the DIII team is going. I have some time to consider the other 2 teams.
6/29/2010 11:15 AM
Some people still have multiple teams in HD?

Dom Brown at #1 in Keith Law's latest minor league prospect rankings.
Cosart made the list too with "the best fastball in the minors", and Singleton was honorable mention.

Just realized I failed to do some pretty basic lineup and staff optimization following my last batch of injury recoveries.  That's the kind of negligence that makes me even more mediocre than I need to be.
If it makes you feel better, even when I actually try, I forget to do **** like that.

He was drafted in Season 14. This is his third year. He only recently went up to AAA, though. I'd be tempted to keep him there to start next season. But his bat currently is so good that my "frequent" pinch-hitting setting might make him valuable.
Is there a reason you couldn't bring him up now and have him start next season in AAA?
I would have. But I think I said that later on. And then I couldn't use him anyway.

Randall Young. Your old boy.

He's been on a roll lately. His team isn't that bad. I think he has a good rotation, if I remember correctly. He's a tough out in a five game series.

You better win that division. Id prefer to get him in the play-in round. The playoffs coincide with his airplane league recruiting.

But don't you normally have a 13 man pitching staff, or is mostly just your WISBFF?

I think I nailed the defense, speed, and power with poor splits with Onan Chang. I would have placed Young in there ahead of someone else, but I'll survive with what I have.

I think you of all people might now say anyone in the playoffs at the end has a shot... And if I could take out BP, I like my chances a lot more. Though I honestly never expected this team to do as well as it has...

I chalk a lot of it up to the deeper bench with more startable players. I guess guys were rested, but I kept the aggressive pinch hitting going most of this season and I think they thrived in those situations. But I might just be talking myself into this team.
6/29/2010 11:34 AM
It does have me more excited for that team's long term potential. It's probably about as stocked of a minor league system that I've had in a while. And the team in the majors is young and cheap.
