it has been years since ive had it happen to me, but it was a rs sr qb. he handed off for 2 years, then sat a year because someone else was handing off and when it became his turn, he left. thats really a bummer for the whole world though. im trying to win a title every year in bryant, as is armchair and many others. i don't want to see this happen at a school who could be playing him in the title game maybe at the end. id like to see this removed. we want to beat the best. armchair is good enough, with a good enough team, he could still win it all this year. but if he does id like to see it be with the team he did everything right to put on the field. no asterisks.

if we want to make a transfer portal okay. thats a good excuse for it. then the guy goes somewhere he will play right away and make someone else better, im good with that. we can do enough to keep a guy on the roster, or know he will probably leave. but blindsiding a guy who had reasonable expectations based on the current meta, i hate that.

i think you can count on us calling out stupid stuff when it happens. no amount of flipping out on us is going to change that.

Lost a very close game in the Final Four.

https://www.whatifsports.com/gd/GameResults/BoxScore.aspx?gid=10649522

My opponent outgained me 457 yards to 431. I had more first downs, 27 to 24.

My QBs completed only 49% of their passes. I wonder what could have been if I had my Heisman-caliber redshirt Senior QB.

"I too thought it had been removed from the game, but I can tell you with 100% certainty, that it has not been removed from the game, or if it was previously removed, it is back."

It may have been removed and returned to the game. I do think the new owners make tweaks without telling anyone (or just telling a few people).
Making significant changes to the game and not informing your paying customers - or even worse, intentionally keeping them in the dark - that too is bullsh!t.

No player wants to be a red shirt in their JR year. You would be lucky if he stayed. Even if he did his WE would bottom out.
An other thing that they don't like about Red Shirt is that it takes their playing time away from them. That alone will **** them off and they will go home.
In the past JRs would declare eligibility for the NFL draft if they thought that they would go pro. I had many a team ruined because of declaring for the draft.
Coaches were in a up in arms about this.
So now they players won't leave for this but they will if red shirt as a JR and if they don't get the playing time.

He wasn't redshirted as a junior - he was redshirted when he was a freshman. I just call him a redshirt junior to distinguish him from a regular junior who never redshirted. The latter is in his 3rd year in the program, while the former is in his 4th year. I think that nomenclature is fairly common.

I always use the way the game shows it now. Fr., Fr.*, So.*, Jr.*, Sr.*. I agree that what you said is true and that's how the term is typically used. I just wanted to share an anecdote.

That's funny, I never thought about where I picked up lingo like "nomenclature" but it could be from military in the family. I myself am not military, but most all of my family are. Dad was Air Force; both grandfathers were Navy; brother is Army. Plus two cousins who went to the Naval Academy in Annapolis. I also live in a neighborhood between Fort Belvoir and the Pentagon that is mostly military families. We're very proud of our military families and between our neighborhood families, we've got kids in three of the four military academies - though none at the Coast Guard Academy.
