First pick: 1991 Jeff Innis, $2,918,227
Back in the 1990's, I was heavily involved in a roto baseball. It was spring of 1992 and I was in an A.L. only auction (keeper) league. To prepare for my auction, I had purchased software that came with statistical projections of every player, which was translated those into dollar values. I also used to purchase the Bill James handbook, produced annually, by STATS, Inc. (where I actually worked in 1994). In the handbook, Bill James would have his own projected stats. In certain instances, where his projections were drastically different than the software's projections, I would override the software with his projections. Well, in 1991, this player only had about 175 PA, but he absolutely crushed it. Bill James projected a monster season for this player in 1992. Apparently, one other person in my league was also a Bill James disciple, and we got into this crazy bidding war late in the auction. I ended up getting this player for about $28, which was about 5 times what I had anticipated. Of course, he sucked in 1992. That player is my second pick this round:
1991 Phil Plantier, $1,852,148
