From what I can tell TM, you only have 3.5 quality ML bats on your team and 4 quality ML pitchers.  However, three of those pitchers are starters...  so get a can fill out the rest of the staff rather cheaply.  If you can get a position to dump about 40 million in free agency (with about 30 of it going to three position players), I think you can contend next year.
I'd say more like 4.5 quality ML bats (3 wholes, 3 halves), and again, I think I'm ok 1-4 in the rotation.  But yeah, generally, I agree with your assessment.  FA ends up ******* me off, though, as I talk myself into thinking the affordable options aren't enough of an upgrade over what I've got.  We'll see how it plays out, but I definitely plan to try and be more of a presence in FA than usual.  Of course that won't take much.
Also, your idea of quality is not so quality.

I am trying to help you out.

I think you would be better off adding cheap and ignored but effective pitching pieces and focusing on adding 2-3 bats actually.
Yeah, you may be right.  I'm actually pretty happy with my 1-4 starters.  I may just go for an inexpensive LR/spot starter better than what I've got, upgrade the back end of my bullpen, and try to find two good offensive improvements (I think 3 would be a stretch).

No need to have may in that sentence.

I am right.

You should advise him to do bad things, for my sake.

What ended up being the consensus on that trade in DM by the way?
Which one?
Where the dude is trading a perennial MVP candidate...

tisi: Does it look like Vega or Timlin are willing to resign by the way?
Thank you.  Timlin definitely would rsign ($4.5 or so per).  Vega is type A and says he'll go to the money, not that there's nothing I can do before free agency.  So I think that means he'd re-sign (about the same $ as Timlin) if I want him.

robusk's self-importance vs. tm's mediocrity.

Talk about your irresistable force vs. immovable object scenario.

Halves don't count.  You can't Voltron a decent player by getting a bunch of average ones.  Standard deviations of talent on great HBD teams are immense...I think yours are pretty small.

Well, it's at least somewhat market-dependent.

Also, stop trying to make me type in ebonics.
I suspect it is going to be one of the stronger FA markets we have had in a while.

Hmm..

The money thing isn't really a good indication on Vega.  Depends what he said last season I think.

I would bring Vega back, but I don't think you want to make room for Timlin.

You're like 30% trying to help me out and 70% showing off about something meaningless like a 12 year old doing cannonballs at a public pool, but I'm splitting hairs.

SIriusly, though, our opinions don't seem to be divergent enough to merit your usual shtick here.  Basically, I think I'm just saying that I think one of my SP's is a little better than you think, and that if one of my non-good hitters merits "half-good" status, than another couple do as well.

Your boy started speaking in halves, not me.

There's nothing wrong with a decent platoon though, I just don't happen to have any in this world right now.

Facts.

Yeah, it's not like I recently had back to back 100 win seasons with that team or anything.
