I am unclear about the draft pick trades, but I would like to trade my 24th round of Oakland A's where I have the 3rd overall pick to move up in the upcoming rounds not sure if I can do that. Shoot me a trade offer if you want to do that (if it is possible of course)
It is possible, but someone would need to move down by an equivalent number (staying at 300 overall when you add up the numbers 1-24).
It appears to me that
EVERYONE with a 3rd pick in an odd remaining round (13-pirates, 15-phils, 17-rangers, 19-dodgers, 21-royals, 23-cubs) has a slot in round 24 which corresponds to YOUR spot with the team where they pick 3rd. So that's 6 specific players you could ask directly. There appears to be a similar pattern for most players who have an odd number pick in round 24.
It also appears many people with even picks in round 24 can look at other players with even picks in even rounds (12-14-16-18-20-22) for similar swaps.
I am happy to search for similar patterns for any person who asks.
I built the grid in a spreadsheet so it is visually easy for me to highlight cells in search of patterns. This not an intended effect for the alternating snake, but I suspect the "pattern consistency" creates similar options for others too.
Related, I spent a lot of time yesterday thinking about other ways to vary the draft order so that people have even more variation in pick order. My first 12 picks are bottom half picks, and my last 12 are top 12. I think people whose initial pick isn't close to the middle have a left stark pattern. I don't want to mess up the flow of this thread with a bunch of visuals, but I am going to go back to the original sign up sheet and paste a couple of future options with demonstration and comment. I do think trades might be harder in some of those since there is less pattern, but probably also less of a desire for them since someone is going to have each of the draft positions in round 24 no matter what. https://www.whatifsports.com/forums/Posts.aspx?topicID=545931
