It's basically finding a night in August that works for everyone, and finding out definitively if we have people playing for a GC and ones who are not. If we have 12 teams, I can easily do a PRIDE division and a PAY division.

keep the GC amount low like $10 and make it mandatory
It would obviously be only $10, but I don't think everyone would be in for the pay. I know tinman's falling out prevents him from wanting to associate with the site at all.

Ugh. It's supposed to count LOLs. Not for some arbitrary and ill-conceived rating system.
if i want to keep generally being condescending to people in the HD forums as i did in the past i may just have to let the concept of a good forum rating be dead to me
I will not pander to any audience.

Dont be upset you didnt get your lolcounter.  There are plenty of things to be happy about.

a lolcounter would have been the best gauge of forum worth.

How can it count LOLs when there's no actual counter anywhere? You're trying to pound a square peg in a triangular hole, man.
The original concept was a lolcounter, and that's how it was pitched internally at WIS. It wound up being augmented into this BS rating system.

And Nuge's tip has panned out for the catch up.  Open in a new tab and you dont lose your page.  Good Show, old chap.
I've been doing it myself. It'll save 1,000 post day.

Controversy sells. It's marketing 101. Why give us an easily understood system, when they can give us an opaque, confusing one?

Every time you make a point of this, you're just pandering to the too cool for the room anti-pandering crowd.

Besides, no system was going to have much real value if everyone's going to be able to rate.

First his brother got fired by Fox, then they let him go despite having him work for a while without a contract. Then supposedly they've made efforts to try to blackball him to other opportunities and hurt him. Most the site staff actually de-friended him on facebook, which is odd to me.

Though his new site, predictionmachine.com, takes the same formulas that he used to predict games on WIS, but tailors it towards a gambling audience on a pay for info site. The same stuff rlahann and others were saying they used for the sake of gambling, is now actually being marketed that way. Not a bad idea. He's gotten some attention on the radio and stuff, but WIS has supposedly tried to prevent him from succeeding.

Shtickless itself originated from being too cool to pander towards a niche. We started posting here and figured people would come because we're so cool.

Forum rating is made for the WBP generation.
