I know you are based on the players you've coveted in trade chats and the like. I know BP does, because he always has a few in his organization. In fact, the last two good ones I got were poached from him.

I just don't know how to quantify the difference as far as wins above replacement. I suspect going to the lineup I'm considering will be of help, especially with the bullpen I've developed, but it hasn't worked for the Red Sox in real life.
I'm no expert like robusk or rlahann but strong Def in the Infield totally helps out the pitching staff. My pitchers have all been better since focusing there. Helps them get out of jams and keeps the pitch count down imo.

Looks like I only had 2 pitchers end last season in hr above a 3.94 era.

Nice. I got Brad Terrell in HR. I probably paid slightly more than I had to, but I think that'll make my team a lot better.

Jesus Ayala in $ kind of convinced me that a Gold Glove shortstop has a huge effect on a team. Terrell has won three of the last four years, is only 28, and has the top few spots in single-season +-play records.

I can put him in at shortstop, move Fitzgerald to 3B and have a top defense on that side of the field. I just traded for Caballero, who has great range, and I'll add him to the outfield mix and cover a ton of ground out there. I'm not quite sure how it'll pay off in the long run, but it should help. I'm interested to see how run prevention helps this team.

Prioritizing defense has been working for me... I like the shortstop platoon I've been running (Richard will team with Posada this season, with Posada replacing Osuna). It's cheaper than paying $5 mil for a guy like Terrell and doesn't take up an extra roster spot, since I'd have a backup glovely infielder anyway.

I usually use strong defensive Shortstops and Centerfielders.  Ive noticed that sacrificing defense at 2B doesnt hurt nearly as much as I thought it would.

In HR last season I had an AL-leading 3.87 ERA. and a ML-leading 27 unearned runs for the season. The 131 plus plays and 6 minus plays, along with a .991 fielding pct helped faciltate that. I realize that pitchers' overall ratings don't mean much, but I had only three 75+ guys on the staff last season (none better than a 78). And Austin is a 2/2/2/0/1 ballpark.

It definitely is quantifiable, but I just wasn't sure how the across the board improvements I'm doing now will help.
