There were campaign mistakes that I knew had a substantial chance of leading to defeat.
My worst fears were realized.

Imagine if there was no abortion issue. That Rowe v Wade was not overturned or in danger.
It would have been a far greater landslide.

IMO one of the biggest reasons that Harris lost is the the public was never educated on the fact that Covid caused the inflation. All over the world. The public even democrats have little understanding of this.

I heard Harris mention it just once with very little emphasis. There should have been good commercials devoted to this and major speeches about it. Then the economic achievements that were other then grocery prices might have been appreciated.

Again it was the economy stupid and the democrats gave up on talking about it.

Now we will soon see who Trump appoints and what happens to the military.
Many brass could retire and will be people like Flynn be elevated?
Will RFK and his ilk be appointed.
And what is going to happen to the DOJ. Will the prosecutors clash with the attorney general?

I haven’t looked at house races but in a lot of senate races where the dem incumbents won they squeaked by.
At least 3 were flipped.
I think that the abortion issue saved the ones that won because people relied on their dem senator to hold the line. Trump overcame the issue. And he did not lose votes in several states that had referendum votes. They brought back abortion rights and felt that victory there would obviate any need to defeat Trump.

But again if no abortion issue I think more would have lost.

Regarding commercials which are so extremely influential Dems flunked. Kamala never refuted terrible lies. Her commercials were good but there should have Also been ads devoted to refuting lies and saying they were lies in a strong way. It did not happen and she was tagged by the lies.

The trans issue is one of the most effective issues for Trump. The Dems could have used common sense without alienating the LBGTQ community. I don’t think that even the LBGTQ community would have been offended by saying that trans women should not be in female sports. I bet most gay people even agree.

Casey will probably limp to victory by a much tighter margin he ever had. His commercials kind of refuted one issue but with fire. And other thing like the trans issue he totally ignored.
Big mistake.
The Dems needed to fight fire with fire, with truth but strongly delivered.

In fact I think that it is fair to say that if the Dems did some saturation bold faced lies it would have helped them. That is a sad sad conclusion.

IMO the second term of Trump started after the 2020 election. When he made that call to Brad Raffsenbrrger ( sp ) which asked him to commit election fraud and was clearly a crime and when that failed he tried a scheme of sending in fake electors for acceptance on certification day to create utter chaos and a bunch of criminal acts. And when that failed he tried the old way of violence.

He did more then enough horrible things during the term but after he lost he really showed us who he is and what he is. Beyond a shadow of a doubt.

So for me the second term started then. He could never had won again if there were not about 100 million people who either think what he did was ok or they put their head in quicksand and developed amnesia.

So for everything I have written and continue to write that is my reference point.

I will write about the deep anxiety I have about our place in the world.

And I have some more comments about mistakes made long before the election and during the campaign. There needs to be a great deal of soul searching and acknowledgment of certain serious mistakes that were made. Not nearly serious enough to elect a fascist but serious indeed.

Stump said he would settle the Russia war in one day.
He won’t and he will blame it on Dems saying it could have been settled when it first started

He will threaten no help to Ukraine if they refuse to hand over part of their country to Putin.

He will not fix it.
In general Trump believes if it ain’t broke then fix it

Foreign Policy Danger

Everyone knows that he almost never tells the truth. It is very rare.
Obviously Biden had nothing to do with Hamas launching a sneak attack on a holiday. That was on Netanyahu who allowed lax defense at the border even though he had intell that there could be an attack in the near future from tunnels which he had the intell.

And re Russia if Biden weakness led to that ( what an asinine thing to say ) then why has Putin tried to get Trump to beat Harris. He always wants his little fawning dummy in power because no weapons would be sent to Ukraine under Trump.
Putin could not start the war between 16-20 because if he did the transparently obsequious student Trump would have helped Russia win and and that could hurt Trump’s chances of re-election. Putin also thought it would be a relatively quick cakewalk.

And Covid sealed the deal to wait. He was going to invade n the next term no matter who was president and 21 was also a problem because of Covid. So it fell to early 22.

China - China might invade Taiwan. Everyone knows that Trump is an isolationist and he would do nothing to stop it if China decides to do it. Biden has done a number to f successful things to make it undesirable to China. This could be a dangerous flashpoint and severely weaken world stability.

Trump will not be a diplomat with Iran. If the war spreads Trump will help Israel and that’s good but he won’t be the solid rock of solid advise Israel has always received from the USA.
Trump lack of diplomatic strategy for an endgame will possibly put gasoline on fire.

Korea - if there was ever a time for North Korea to go to war with South Korea it would be while Trump was in office. Trump is an isolationist and he has no relationship with S Korea like he does with Netanyahu. He will stand by and watch what his sweetheart pen pal does. Very dangerous for the world stability and alliances.

Those are 4 potential flashpoints where Trump’s actual true
weakness and isolationist philosophy will create Cthe potential for war.

Some dope from the National Review has written a very stupid and irritating opinion piece saying that immediately Biden should pardon Trump
and NY governor should also.

No way. That would make a mockery of the rule of law concerning crimes against the country itself.
And Jan 6 got people KILLED.
So no way. He might never be held accountable.

The New York case can’t be squashed and he can be sentenced now or after his term. I think he can be sentenced because the DOJ rule about not charging a sitting president is for federal crimes only. It applies to the DOJ.

The Georgia case is there and only the governor can pardon. That will be interesting.


What About Hunter?

Yes some type of clemency is needed because Trump has proven that he is not a lot of bluster and empty threats when it comes to vindictiveness.

He could have Hunter put into the most dangerous prison and into the worst section. he can possibly be in. He could set up the possibility that Hunter could be murdered.

Joe would be a fool to make any deal with Trump because obviously Trump cannot be trusted. Not when his son’s life is at stake.

I think Hunter was not sentenced yet. I don’t remember a sentence. The 2 forms of clemency is pardon or commutation. I’m not sure Joe can issue a commutation if a sentence has not been imposed.

I feel certain that if he could do either he would go commutation because that does not do anything to the tax evasion conviction. There would be no continuation of a sentence.

Re the gun case. I don’t think that was part of the guilty plea so if not there has to be a pardon.

People have gotten pardons for far worse.

So it is like eating candy every day and wonder later why you have diabetes.

4. No taxes on social security benefits. Uniformed people and a variety of dummies don’t realize that it could lead to social security cuts and accelerated insolvency of the social security fund.
AND it could only apply to people whose income is high enough to have taxes. With deductions you already have most people with the high end benefits will already pay little taxes.
So it will benefit those who do not need the no tax gift that will be given to them on the backs who cannot afford less monthly benefits. Sound familiar?

Speaker Johnson ( aptly named ) has said “ I am open to dismantling the ACA.”
Only people who work can get Obama Care and you can only earn up to a certain amount. I think 35,000$.
The insurance is real insurance - the same millionaires have or anybody in between. Blue Cross / Blue Shield and Aetna and Cigna etc.
And they are the high end of these coverages.
Tens of millions of people and their families receive mana from heaven because of ACA.

That the people who not just need but survive because of it clap their hands and cheer is one of the many reasons but a top one that has made me call our country A DUMB AND REALLY REALLY STUPID COUNTRY!!!!
