Round 1 Themes, 2025 Topic

I’ve built a handful of rosters that comply. I just can’t convince myself any of them are good enough.
I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat, which should be a relief. It feels like there should be better rosters, but I'm not sure there are. I bet a handful of owners will stumble on to a solid, balanced roster using $100M, but I don't think there will be many.

Question for the $80M (well specifically for the Round 2 $120M):

If the 2025 MLB players are released before the deadline for submitting teams, will those players be eligible for twisting (or will it still only go up to 2024)?

I've got all 6 teams built and entered, and I can say for certain that they are NOT good. Tough themes this year, for sure!

Has anyone confirmed with admin that there won't be a (cough cough) salary update before the start of Round 2, which would be problematic for the Round 2 $120M theme? I'm assuming there will be no salary update, but you never know...

Yes - 2025 players will be eligible for any of the round 2 themes.

There hasn't been a salary update in over 5 years.

$80M Q&A

Q: For the 80M theme, are you allowed to use the same season of the same player on both your round 1 and 2 teams, or do the player's season have to be different between rounds?
A: Yes, you can use the same season of the same player in both rounds. There are no restrictions on how you form either roster other than they both have to be made by twisting players that appeared on your chosen team’s real life roster and filled out with sub 300k players of your choice.

Q: Can you use the designated season for a player or must it be a different season from the designated season?
A: You can use the designated season or any other from their career. You are not required to twist to a different season.

Q: If you have a sim-eligible player you don't need on your team's roster, are you required to roster him?
A: No. Regardless of how many eligible players your team has, you can use as many of them as you choose and fill spots with <300K players for as many as you choose.

Q: If the 2025 MLB players are released before the deadline for submitting teams (for Round 2), will those players be eligible for twisting (or will it still only go up to 2024)?
A: Yes, 2025 players will be eligible if available.
Question
Example: Say you use 1971 Stl and you don't use Joe Torre in the 80mil, and you move on to the 120mil can I use Joe Torre then????

Yes, you can use any player that appeared on the real life roster... Doesn't matter if he appears on your $80M roster or not.

Think of this as two unique Twist themes, just with different cap levels. There is no correlation between the 80M and 120M rosters, other than you have to twist using the same original real life team you selected.

Question for the 80M theme: if I have a player listed as OF for that season but he also has other seasons as a pitcher (since we can twist) can I use one of his pitcher season??

Yes, if he played for the team in that season, you can twist him to any season in any role.

So in the $110 Million – The Nineteenth Century it says

Combined seasons: You can use only partial or full seasons from your franchise

There is a Season Type: Partial/Combined so not to be obtuse that is exactly what I use ? ...

I looked at IP/162 and they are limited so I guess that is the answer

You can use full, partial or combined in all leagues except 100M.

The wording you quoted is from the $100M theme, not the $110M. So I'll answer for that theme.

When searching for players in the $100M theme, you should use the "Season type: Full/Partial" option. This will exclude any combined seasons, so you aren't tempted to use one by mistake.

Looks like we're getting close! Just looking at the leagues I'm in, on average, 17 of 24 teams have been entered. Big thanks and kudos to the commishes for keeping up with everyone and completing roster reviews.

Just from this limited view, it appears the theme giving people the most trouble is the $80M "double twist" format. I will say I probably spent more time on that one than any of the others, but I didn't feel it was the most difficult. The main challenge in completing that roster, at least for me, was the "no 300k exception." It was tough to find those last 1-3 players who were > $300k but didn't push me over the cap.

Can't wait to get started!

About 71% of teams are in so far. Among my 6, the one with the fewest entries remains the 140M. The one with the most roster errors by far is the 100M. Hard to say what's causing trouble exactly.
