I don’t know the answer to this question but when you talk about export/imports deficits you are talking about goods and services. Trump is only talking about goods. What about services. I thought we are the strongest exporter of services.
How does that enter into all of this craziness.

The total trade deficit last year was about 140 billion.

Why are we burning international relationships with vengeful actions almost no negotiations and bringing great harm and chaos to our own economy. Could some countries stop importing some services and what impact could that have.

What is going to happen to Trump and Doge if the slashing leads directly to a catastrophe that leaves many dead. Air safety or weather forecasting or public safety or wildfires etc. Only pea brain people would not accept the growing possibility of danger.
If one just takes a step or two back we are living through some kind of evil ( if the shoe fits ) cartoonish catastrophe. The country is being upended. For who, for what? The very wealthy and for them and nobody else the country is getting torn apart.

Kept criticizing and berating Zelensky because he hates Putin. Yelled about Biden “stupid “ giving of 350 billion of weapons which he has ended but over and over and over he and Vance screamed at Zelensky to thank them personally.
I have heard Zelensky thank either Biden and or the American people about 25 times at least.

They blamed Ukraine for the war and never even once lightly criticized Putin.

And at the end Trump was literally literally screaming at the top of his lungs. He looked like he might have a coronary. Goading him into such a reaction might be effective strategy to think about.

Zelensky refused to let Trump and Vance lie and in a very sly way reminded Trump that Putin first stole land in 2014 and during Trump ‘s entire first term he did zero to help to mitigate further aggression and try to get the land returned, after Trump kept blaming Biden over and over and over.

Observations of A World in Trouble

I try to take a step back and look at things objectively.
I don’t act like the 3 monkeys.
So here are a few thoughts.

1. The world is having a nervous breakdown. Biden was an adult fighting for democracy against the anti democracy forces. He was keeping the good guys together. That was a good thing even if very inferior thinkers disagree.

2. Was Russia weaker when USA opposed it or is it weaker with Trump around. Do we really need to answer that question. The inferior thinking people are 3 monkey people or simply fascists.
Russia actually says often how much happier it is with Trump as president and says that Putin and Trump are on same page and have same goals.


3. Is the economy worse under Trump. Yes by every barometer and is teetering.

4. It is easy to watch Trump and Musk being happy and gleeful with the savage slashing of the federal work force and real people are acing their lives turned upside down and in many cases ruined.
They show happiness and excitement and smiles in destroying loyal Americans so many of which have sacrificed private sector higher paying jobs to help their country.

5. All actual anti democracy dictators hate a free press and try to terminate a free press. Does Trump support a free press of intelligent people. Obviously not. He has even banned real news sources like AP and Reuters. Dangerously inferior thinking people think it is ok to let conspiracy mongering “news” outlets replace them. And consider them objective truth tellers.

6. Slowly but surely top leaders are starting to speak the real truth. We are a country that prefers fascist types (authoritarian dictators ) to the leaders from the democratic process. Otherwise there would be no Trump. It isn’t like Trump fooled anyone. Some yelled and screamed that he will ruin the country and harm the world while the supporters kiss his feet and horror of horrors - relate to him. The top leaders are starting to look his supporters and the apathetic in the eyes and accuse them ( in different words then me ) of being stupid and particularly un - American.

7. The only way to stop what is happening is if enough of his voters have buyer’s remorse. I don’t care what it takes to get them there but they must get there.
And hopefully they change their mindset and become mature clear thinking decent people, not easily controlled and manipulated by hateful spiteful scapegoat seeking horrible people.

When it comes to consumption of information you really are what you eat.

8. No democracy has been as hated as the USA is now since Germany and Italy in the 1930s.

9. The tariffs if imposed will severely hurt the United States and could lead to a chain reaction leading to a world wide recession or worse.

10. We are witnessing countries throughout the world contemplating or actually beginning to move away from the USA in trade and alliances as they publicly call Trump AND the country despicable. They more then our own people blame the citizens for electing Trump and not fighting him. After all who would understand that better then Europeans.

11. Restating much of the above, The USA has completely relinquished moral authority and other countries will be wary and not accepting of our country even if we get back good leaders because the American people ( the people! ) have been exposed as hateful and dumb. Very very very dumb and not trustworthy.

Smart people know the score. One would think that by now Trump would have a horrible job approval rating. It is about + 1.2 on average. I’m not kidding.

There will reach a point when numbers of people dying because of Trump will be compiled.

Another thing I observe is that Trump is getting much less heat then Musk and Vance and republican politicians.

Will the parliamentarian, Elizabeth McDonough, appointed in 2012 by Senate leader Harry Reid, be dismissed if she does not approve of the Godzilla tax cut package? ( she interprets the rules of senate legislation and considers precedents in her analysis - she decides what can or cannot be done under the senate’s budget reconciliation process ) pushing the Godzilla tax cut must get by her. Why tariffs?

Several reasons. Flexing muscle - yes.

Each tariff payment goes into the treasury.
When the reconciliation bill is trying to get passed Trump can point to this revenue which hypothetically can be lots of revenue ( while killing consumers and every sector of the economy including jobs ) to justify the acceptability of the gargantuan tax cut.
So again everyday people and poor people subsidizing the ultra wealthy welfare system.

It is a balancing act. You must create revenue in order to cut revenue ( the tax cut ) and cutting spending too which Musk is doing in his name.

Rant Number 1

I don’t think that Kafka himself could contemplate the richest man in the entire world being tasked by the American president to fire up to 2 million federal workers for irrational reasons with most of them scraping by; and him doing it with zest and joy. And the vast number of republicans are yawning even now.

Our problem is greater then we think. The democracies around the world like Canada England and France might never for the foreseeable future have faith in the American people. We are now always capable of electing a Trump.

He has broken our alliances and destroyed good will and our people are seen as deranged and flat out low iQ level idiots - we are.
NATO could reform without the USA.

Why is Trump doing what he is doing to Canada. Think about it. Under what circumstances would Canada want to be the 51st state? If they get to where we were in early 2009 and drop into a major depression. Then they could come begging to be taken in by the new evil empire.
