Growing up in suburban MA in the 70s, I knew of Lahoud, somehow. He had a brief stint with the Red Sox early in his career, but that was before I became a fan. I think I knew of him because my mother secretly had a crush on him...

One more entry from the 2025 World Series, which in my opinion has been the most exciting since Cubs–Indians in 2016.

Last night in Game 5 (highlights), Toronto rookie Trey Yesavage -- who began the season in Single A and made only three regular-season appearances -- struck out twelve Dodgers, the most ever by a rookie in a World Series game. He broke the previous record of eleven set by Don Newcombe of the 1949 Brooklyn Dodgers.



Newcombe passed away a few years ago, but his former teammate Sandy Koufax was in the park, seated near home plate, to witness it all.

So my Blue Jays lost the World Series last night. It was a great Game 7, the culmination of an epic series and, as one writer suggested, perhaps the best post-season in baseball history.
