I will start this off.

$70M Theme: My team is facing a $535K pitcher with a 1.50 ERA (Dan Larsen). He throws 7 solid innings against me team and outpitches 2006 NL Cy Young Winner Brandon Webb. I lose 6-3.

$110M Theme:
I face probaly the worst SP in this league... 1891 Frank Killen (1.28 whip, including 4.75 bb/9). Of course, he allows 7 walks and 6 hits (but only 3 runs) in 7.2 innings and beats me 7-5.

$140M Theme
My four Speakers combine to go 3-for-17. There are forty Tris Speakers in this league. Five of those forty have a .000 OPS. I have two of them.

Worst case scenario to start $70m: a 15 inning loss which leaves me with only three pitchers in the green for game 2. Sparky even used my tandem B for game 2 instead of either of my tandem 3’s. Reshuffling and now I’m hoping I can get a complete game out of my tandem 3 combo pitching in game 2.

Looks like I ****** up with my 1356 innings in the 120M league. Took my 150 pitches to get thru 7 on Opening Day, and my next 2 starters have low pitch counts.

I routinely don't do well in this tourney, but I received a very pleasant surprise to start off the tournament. In League 1, my lead off batter in the top of the first inning, 1984 Rickey Henderson, hit a home run off Tom Seaver. Things can only go downhill from there!

I did have one other surprising development, In the $80 Million league, my sub-$300k roster filler, 1992 Troy Neel, went 2-for-2 with a pair of solo Home Runs. He hit 3 HR's in 59 Plate Appearances in real life.

Went 5-1 in the first cycle, but the one loss was because Sparky for some reason brought my mopup in to lose it for us in the 9th.

3-3 start. I'll take it!

My first WIS Championship Schwarze !!!

My Speaker team in the 140M won the opener 26-3. You know it can only go downhill after that.

I am playing against one of the Speaker teams to start the season. Lost the first game 14-11. In the second game, I blow a 9th inning lead and go into extras. Score 4 in the top of the 10th and promptly give 4 up in the bottom of the inning. Onto the 11th and I score 9 runs. Fortunately, I shut them down in the bottom of the 11th to win 20-11. That's the way to keep the staff fresh to start the season.

9-9 after the first full day, with all my teams 2-1 or 1-2. That's just the kind of mediocrity I've come to expect in this tournament!

8-10 first cycle with alas a pair of 0-3 teams. The 70M is a crapshoot, so I won't stress that one. But the modern Dodgers sweeping my 1909-11 A's by a 19-5 margin bodes really poorly for my 100M team. I may have overthought that one. Bizarrely we outhomered the Dodgers 1-0, so the lack of slug didn't hurt their production.

0-6 in today's PM2 games. And so it begins.

7-17 through four. Brutal. So I'll distract myself with the following tidbit.

1989 Les Lancaster, who is on my $120M team and who in RL in 1989 had a single and a double in 11 at bats with no stolen base attempts, has a speed rating of 97. In his career he had 4 doubles, no triples, and no SB attempts in 102 ABs. His yearly speed ratings, chronologically, are 94, 97, 97, 98, 98, 20, and 93. The 20 was his one season in the AL.

So, twice, his speed rating was 98. There are only six hitter seasons in the entire sim with speed ratings of 99.
