AMERICAN LEAGUE options in Munson for Season 64:

***TAKEN***

AL West Franchise A (formerly Tokyo): This franchise could use a steady hand as they have cycled through owners in the past 3-4 seasons. They finished with a respectable 77-85 record, good for 3rd in the division. They were 5th in team batting average but only 13th in runs scored in the AL. They were also 7th in pitching ERA and 11th in fielding percentage. 12 players return on contracts for 77 million next season. 6 more players are headed to arbitration. The main thing they need is a long term vision of how to improve the team. They will have the 10th pick in the draft.

AL West Franchise B (formerly Arizona): This franchise has been a monster franchise in our league for many seasons. Before ‘slipping’ to ONLY 98 wins this season, this team went 10 seasons with 100 plus victories. That included 5 World Series titles. They once again won their division but bowed out in the NLDS of this season’s playoffs. The long time owner needed to reduce their number of teams, but this team is in excellent shape to continue winning. They were 3rd in team batting average and 5th in runs scored this past season. The pitching staff compiled the 3rd best ERA and the defense was 9th in fielding percentage. They have 10 players signed for 63 million next season, along with 7 players heading to arbitration hearings. They will have the 28th pick in next season’s amateur draft.

TAKEN

AL South Franchise (formerly Atlanta): This franchise was taken over by a replacement owner early in the year and the new owner guided them to the first wild card spot in the playoffs. They finished 2nd in the division with a very solid 91-71 record. The offense was fine, finishing 7th in batting average and 6th in runs scored. The pitching was equally as good, as they were 5th in team ERA and first in fielding percentage behind the hurlers. There are 11 players under contract for about 61 million and 9 more going to arbitration hearings. The replacement owner has left everything in very good shape. They will have the 26th pick in the upcoming draft.

They finished second in the division and out of the playoffs, but they are ready to take the next step. The offense was average, 7th in batting average, and 8th in runs scored. The pitching was a little better, finishing 5th in pitching ERA but were not helped out by the defense, which finished 13th in fielding percentage. NL West Franchise (formerly Sacramento): This franchise has been up and down recently, but won 100 games 2 seasons ago. They slipped to 77 wins this season. So, there is a core there that can make a playoff run. Sacramento was average across the board in most categories. They were 9th in team batting average, as well as 9th in runs scored. Meanwhile, on the mound, they were 7th in team ERA. The fielding was once again average, where they finished 8th in percentage. The finances are in good shape to make strong decisions on the future. There are 8 players under contract for just over 44 million next season and only 3 more going to arbitration. They will have the 11th pick in the amateur player’s draft.
