Anyone else get occasional Fletch flashbacks while watching the greatest comedy on TV today (Community)?

"4. Corner Oufielders have a higher +/PO ratio than centerfielders.  Many of them get less chances and still have more + plays than I expect a high range CF to get.....as soon as I get a chance, I must try the D/A+ guys in left and right with a A+/C guy in center."

Have others found this true?  For my upcoming 89 progressive season, my 3 OF are: B+/A+ (Andy Van Slyke), A/D (Tim Raines), and Harold Baines (D+/C).  Where should Van Slyke play?  Normally I would put Van Slyke in CF, Raines in LF, and Baines in RF.  Are you saying that my best range shouldn't be in CF?

1.  Trying to get 700 IP out of one of the old time guys is hard unless you are willing to deal with starts in the 70's and 80's.

2. Brooks Robinson is amazing.  He has played in 1694 consecutive games for me (154 game schedule), every game for 11 years.

3. The larger  the progressive league the more "curveballs" in the first round.   In a 16 team league, I can pretty much predict the first 8 picks.   In a 24 team league there's usually 1 or 2 that I don't expect.

4.   I just spent $50 on some Dr. Scholl's foot things.   If they don't stop my feet from feeling like hooves I am gonna be ******.

5. Playing in long running leagues with guys you like is waaaaay more fun than playing in leagues with guys you don't.

6.  For some reason, the college basketball game on this site I am addicted to but I didn't like HBD at all.  I think I like my baseball players real and my college basketball players fake.

So true.

Trentonjoe, I think that 16.2 pitchers per inning is excessive - I use 5 or 6 in a blowout at most. I would like them to throw 15 or 16 pitches per innings, but will wait to see what you and elbirdo say on that one.

I perfectly understand about your wife and the beach. The relationship is the same at my house, but the perspective regarding the beach is reversed. I don't like the beach (or down the shore as it is properly called - you understand this key point TJ but I suspect the others don't). I love the mountains and the woods. Never see them. We'll be at the beach in July.

contrarian23, it is hard to build bookshelves strong enough for elephant books. I do love the film "Elephant Walk" with Elizabeth Taylor. Best blockbuster ending to a film that I know.

Can Brooks Robinson break Cal Ripken Jr.'s record while Ripken is still in Kindergarten ?

Yes, 1961 was a bad year for baseball, legends aside, so I am not surprised about the draft. I made a 1961 team for a "Year you were one year old" theme league, and it was horrible. One power hitter after another. I then compounded the stupidity with Ernie Banks at SS instead of Maury Wills. I don't like players like Wills, but the team was heavily one-sided and I think singles and SBs were looked on like VW bugs in 1961. So was pitching apparently.

This doesn't happen to be in response to a particular–now deposed–participant in a progressive we both play in, does it?

A prog I'm in just had Ron Santo do pretty much the same thing.

In my progressive that started in 1941, Eddie Mathews just ended a consecutive game streak of 2,121 games, by missing the 16th game of his 14th season, and has played in every other game the rest of the season so far for 2,252 total games out of 2,253 team games played during his career. His career .293/.399/.531 with 546 HRs, 1,665 RBI, 1,606 Runs, and 2,528 hits is also quite impressive!
