I realized I left out the Exclusive Player part of the rules and have added that in.
Players are exclusive by season. An example, if you get Draw #8 - A Player with "Willie" for a First name. You can draft 1954 Willie Mays and he is off the board but his other versions are still available.

Does player mean hitter, or can it be a pitcher also?

Player means Hitter or Pitcher.

Yes, Player and season must be declared at the time of the pick.
Timed draft.
In the first 3 versions we stayed ahead of the clock and almost always got 2 picks for each owner per day. (16 team leagues)
