7) CLE at NYY - 6/27/2001
https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA200106270.shtml

8) CIN at PHIL - 8/25/1915 - NL - Baker Bowl
https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/PHI/PHI191508251.shtml
1) Eddie Plank, Jack Powell, Doc Powers
Slim pickings here so I’m using both SP, with 800 IP between them, and an awful scrub C.

2) Andy Van Slyke, Rick Wilkins, Kal Daniels
Van Slyke will lead off and play CF. Made team over that Bonds guy because of the glove. Wilkins platoons behind the plate. Kal gives depth at 1B/OF

3) Cy Williams, Mandy Brooks, Pinky Pittinger
Cy and Mandy platoon in one OF corner. Pinky covers 200 PA at third.

4) Bob Horner, Al Holland, Mike Jorgensen
Horner gets 2/3 of the time at 3B. Holland is a top RP. Jorgensen pinch hits.

5) Placido Polanco, Johnny Peralta, Todd Jones
Polanco and Peralta are the DP combo. Jones is a mop.

6) Ellis Knder, Tom Hurd, Eddie Joost
No way to afford Ted Williams’ partial season. Kinder is a bullpen key. Hurd is a bullpen filler. Joost backs up the MI.

7) Mike Mussina, Randy Choate, Brian Boehringer, Ricardo Rincon
Mussina is SP3 but the best of them. Rincon (famously traded to Oakland as depicted in Moneyball) is a bullpen key. Choate walks everyone but gives up no HR as an iffy LOOGY. Boehringer fills the pen.

8) Gavvy Cravath, Fred Luderus, Tommy Clarke
Cravath is a key bat in the OF. Luderus is a solid 1B. Clarke is the righty half of the C platoon.
The key guy here I couldn’t make work is Pete Alexander from this box. At $23M for 402 innings, he’s amazing when he pitches but at this cap forces a really weak team around him. The other dead ballers will have to do. I actually tried to build a team with Pete and just couldn’t stomach all the compromises.
