McMurry vs Springfield for the belt tonight/tomorrow in Dobie. One school will be removed from the list.
McMurry 24, Springfield 17
Hate to toot my own horn, but first national championship for McMurry in any world. So, they come off the list. McMurry was ranked 228th of 228 in Dobie D3 when I took over.
This was a super fun GD project. I am thinking I will take on another school that has never won a championship and see if I can do it again.

Great job tribewriter and good game! I'm returning a massive amount of seniors, so hopefully I can knock Springfield off the list next season.

Yes, great game. If you win it all next season with Springfield, that would be very cool.

Audited today (6/10/25) and no new champions outside of McMurry. Several on the verge of winning it all.

Just saw another school come off the list! Mount Ida took home the D3 Bryant championship today with a win over Ferrum. tbook led Mount Ida to its first national championship in any world in his 29th season there, which shows you patience pays off in a dynasty game! Congrats!

Ironic you mentioned or I've come across this post. Currently I'm trying the impossible and Win a Natty with Navy in Bryant. No way on WIS earth this is achievable on a short-term basis. Just getting past the first round of playoffs pointless. Your team is fodder for top 10 teams. Recruiting is a whole level of brutality, getting top tier talent against contenders-eats your budget, time, energy, and learned to be more strategic resourceful. I've been at for almost two years. The hardest part is conference, Power 5 against G4...anyways I do enjoy the challenge. There're times I want to jump ship for a better conference and team, but that would be like everyone else. I believe the art and patience to actually build a contender from ground up is over, for the most part.

Here is some more irony for you:

I coached Navy in Bryant to back-to-back appearances in the national championship game in Seasons 100 and 101. That was before the playoffs, when your goal was to make the top bowl game. Navy lost both times. You can verify in stats>National Champions. I was pretty convinced at that point that Navy was never going to win a championship as long as the "elite" advantages were in place, so I moved on.

There are some non-elites that are better opportunities than others. Non-elites have won 69 championships in Bryant, for instance. So it can be done, but, boy, is it hard. When you do win it all, especially if you beat an "elite," it's very satisfying.

* Addendum: Navy has won two national championships: Stagg Season 26 (brendaniol) and Leahy Season 104 (slid64er).

Totally agree brother, and thanks for the information and bit of back story. I haven’t given up yet, maybe another season or two and try to make it past the 1st round. I live the Bryant world, it’s extremely challenging and some of the old coaches will NOT relinquish their power…lol
