BM1...I think you may have misread my post. I AGREE with your thoughts and I am NOT supporting a repetitive cookie team but you mentioned you had a strategy that could beat it and also that his team was basically GUARANTEED playoff spot. Both cannot be true. If your team can beat it, it is not taking any credits from you, but rather perhaps others.
I also agree that copying others ideas is for losers. However, I doubt anyone on this site has not seen something work and tried to emulate it at some point. Maybe not 100 times but ....I know for sure that I have watched a couple of things 06gsp has done in my leagues and learned from it. We have different players but I saw the impacts.
Anyway...no issue between us, I was just asking for clarity and stating my opinion. Thats all.
Creeper, no problem, in your previous post you had asked why I felt frustration about that situation, so I was just trying to explain.
About that team being almost guaranteed a playoff spot, it's a fact, proof is the number of teams he's entering in the $80 mil ToCs, he's got 6 already in the one currently awaiting to be filled, he had 10 in the previous one, which he won. It's a team that usually plays between .620 to .700, it won't miss the playoffs all that often. Trust me, I've been keeping track.
About me mentioning that I had a strategy to counter that particular team, I do, and it's one similar to the one just4me mentioned. Except I do it with modern batters, all very high AVG with good speed, not necessarily base stealers, just speed around 80+ to avoid hitting in DPs and get the extra bases on basehits with H&R, batting switch/L. Also some A+ range at key positions and modern pitchers with low OAV, using hitters ballpark with -HR. I usually like Royals/Kauffman.
The thing is, I could enter a team like that to counter him, sure, BUT I like to do other things, I like to try stuff, even crazy or dumb ideas, like I currently have a team with 2001 Bonds, which of course isn't exactly the way to go if all you really care about is winning a WS.
Or my other current OL team is just some players I liked that played for the 1980's A's.
That A's team is currently doing great at 34-19 .642 but trailing, guess who? Yeah that team again, which he named this time "Diana Ross" (to express his own lack of soul) which is once again leading the league with a record of 36-17 .679
Of course I agree that, we can all learn by observing and studying what other owners are doing, but this guy hasn't learned anything, he just saw a team dominate an OL he was playing in, decided to copy paste its roster and has been cloning it in every single OLs since.
He's not creating his own teams, not trying to learn the game or to improve, he's not even managing, he's letting the sim run it for him.
Basically he's not playing the game, he's just ripping off those who ARE playing.
