Its me, RiddleFace, fluff_nasty, Jitter_Thug, HoboBaggins, flopz, pitterpatter, scapegoat22, trailmixer, scheyerguy, and [redacted]*.
I've been cheating essentially from day 1, and I apologize. Most of these accounts have already been banned, admins, please ban the rest of them.
I'm not saying this is right, but here is how I always justified it in my head. This is a college basketball coaching simulator, and there are recruiting rules and regulations, just like real life. There are always going to be teams/coaches who are going to get around those rules in order to gain a competitive advantage. Some cheating programs, will get caught and punished, while others will go on to see great success without anyone ever knowing they cheated. To me, I was just roleplaying as a coach who was willing to break the rules to win, just as many do in the real NCAA.
Karma was balancing things out anyways, 0-11 in championship games, 6 of those with fluff_nasty. The Curse of Frank Jones.... I did use Jitter_Thug at Nebraska to sneak
Frank Jones (the best player I've ever had) to Grand Canyon. His senior year was the infamous Florida Gulf Coast game which I will fully explain now.
I originally created scheyerguy as an alt. My brother in law had just started playing the game and was going to add a second coach. I told him to just use scheyerguy so he wouldn't have to waste a month sitting at a D3 school with a new account. He recruited a decent team at FGCU but then had his first kid and wasn't able to keep up with either of his accounts. He told me he was quitting, so I said I would take scheyerguy back and see if I could get lucky with his team in the tourney. I ended up with the second round matchup of GCU vs FGCU. Now with all my alts, I match-up against myself in the tourney all the time and usually can throw them one way or the other without anyone noticing, but this time was a little different. I was dealing with a messy situation in real life due to alcohol** and I wasn't thinking about HD. I remembered at the last second that I needed to set up my teams, I scrambled in and just made sure that there was no way GCU could lose that game. I didn't want my best team ever to get an unlucky sim against a team that I was controlling. It was too obvious and I was called out immediately. My team got frozen while everything was under review. GCU still made it to the championship game even though I couldn't adjust any of my gameplan. I would then lose to benis in a game where he knew exactly what all my team settings were going to be. My brother in law took the fall for the whole thing and they banned his main account and scheyerguy, fluff_nasty was reinstated. This debacle birthed The Curse of Frank Jones, which I have yet to escape.
I am sure that I'm not the only user who uses multiple accounts for a competitive advantage. There are others that you are competing against who have a huge upper hand on you and you will never know. My main play was just to have a D1 school in the same area as my D2 school and then pull the D1 scholly and swoop in with my D2.
My plan is to take a break, and then come back with one account, and one account only. Play by the rules, enjoy the game, and break the curse.
* [redacted]: This account originally belonged to a friend, I borrowed it for a while but have since returned it. Leaving out the name because the original owner was not cheating so this account does not need to be banned.
** alcohol: I am proud to say that I have addressed my alcoholism and am currently 4.5 years sober.
