This will be a progressive league that moves through history at an accelerated pace. I would love to have 24 teams, but I am willing to go with fewer if we don’t get enough interest to get there. We will start by drafting five players from five different blocks of time for a total of 25 total players. The five blocks of time will be as follows:
- 1885-89 (Round 1-5)
- 1890-94 (Round 6-10)
- 1895-99 (Round 11-15)
- 1900-04 (Round 16-20)
- 1905-09 (Round 21-25)
All players must be drafted in the time block that they were a rookie. You will not be required to start with the player’s rookie year. However, once you pick a starting year, you must progress chronologically with that player going forward. Missing seasons in the database may be skipped over without penalty, but you can’t skip over undesirable seasons.
Draft order will be determined at random and will snake back and forth each round. Time slots will be 30 minutes per round and the draft will start at 10am EST each day and finish at 10pm EST each day. After each five rounds, we'll switch to the next time block in chronological order with a new randomly determined raft order.
I will only display the available players list that is applicable to the current time block we're in to avoid confusion and draft errors. Nobody may pick ahead unless all picks are current. Also, it is expected that owners sitemail the next 2-3 owners in line after making their pick.
Disclaimer, I will be on vacation the first week of August. I would say that there's a good change we might not be completely full by then, but if we are, we'll wait to start the draft until I come back. If by some odd chance we fill very quickly, then we'll pause the draft while I'm gone. Otherwise, my wife will probably divorce me for ruining the vacation and I'll be too broke to play WIS anymore lol!
