Worth noting that the top 5 in Dale Murphy all have over 827 HR.

Does anyone have a link to Leo Egan’s page? I can’t remember what world he was in, but I saw a post about this guy about a decade ago. Iirc he had like 1,000 home runs and a batting average well over .400.

he was such a good hitter that the owner moved to Santa Fe (which at the time was an overpowered hitters park) and renamed his team the Santa Fe Leo Egans.

unfortunately I cannot find his player card or team by googling, so I’m worried this might’ve been a world that got destroyed with a merger, which would be a massive shame. It’s also possible I’m just not very good at searching.

Leo Egan was actually the second best HR hitter on that list, with 989. Chin-Hui Martin of Gehringer world had 997. I’m wondering now if shone has gotten to 1,000 on the years since.

Egan still gets my vote as best HBD hitter ever. His ratings were just insane. 96/99/95/97/97 hitting ratings at his peak. If his durability hadn’t been a little low, he might have approached 1,200 homers and 4,500 hits.

looks like he was from the rough and tumble early days of HBD. It’s before I started, but I remember reading that it wasn’t unheard of for players to hit 80-90 homers in a season back then. Martin was signed as an IFA in August of 2007 and joined the ML team right away. I think the update that nerfed the mega power hitters was in like 2008-2009 or so. (I started about 2013).

Esmailyn Johnson (Vin Scully World) has a legit shot at 1,000 career HRs. Just finished his age-33 season and is at 827. Just had his season low of 43 (not including the 37 he hit in not quite a full season as a rookie).

Wow, Johnson is pretty impressive. Not only 1,000 homers, but it looks like he’s got a shot at 4,000 hits as well. I can’t see how much his strength ratings have declined, but it’s a good sign that his skill ratings are holding steady. If he can play 4 more seasons at a high level, he could reach 1,000.

Wow. Power might drop off but those other skills will keep him hitting till 40, easy.

How old is he? Does he have a shot at 1,000?

In Pine Tar we've got 40 year old Butch Hughes with 966, sadly he's in AAA this year and unlikely to hit 1,000 before he retires.
