Welcome to GD (and real life) college football recruiting. Just take note of the coach for the future... There are a lot of variables one would have to consider to determine if this particular scenario is "messed up," but rest assured similar things happen in every season, every level.

How exactly is that messed up? Just because you turn a recruit green first means everyone has to completely lay off and let you have it?

A recruit ain't yours until he signs.

Welcome to one of the games in the game..in real life does Michigan back off the kid because Ohio State has a verbal commitment?

Recruiting may be the biggest and most important game within the game. Who is where, how much $, what are teams O/D and roster comp, coaches recruiting tendencies, etc.

I think your situation is frustrating but certainly fair play - and very realistic to real life recruiting. Recruiting is probably the most realistic part of the game, to be honest. The strategic use of money, going all in on the first cycle, waiting to see results of scouting so you don’t commit 10 CV to a “red” prospect etc. The thing you have to remember is that none of us have unlimited “f@ck you money” so you’re not going to have situations where another coach picks on you and tries to pick off your recruits just so you don’t get them. Coming in on a guy late requires significant capital that could be used elsewhere so odds are a late challenge only comes from coaches who need the player, lost out on another guy etc

thanks. now that makes sense. was just looking for some prospective.

SInce Im the guy he is complaining about

I always keep extra money in case someone takes a run at my players as i feel all is fair

Until they sign they are available to ALL coaches

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.
I don't get into battles too often because there are so many players available who are good enough.

HOWEVER, if someone comes into your 180, especially if it is out of their 360, you have to bury them. Cannot get sniped like that.

I don't think what you experienced is unusual or real life recruiting. The biggest weakness in this game is recruiting. I had a guy green at 9am signing day. Then he signees with another team while I have 30k in the bank. Never got a chance to respond. That is BS. The Hoops game is so much better with recruiting, much more realistic.

@david, I agree that HD recruiting is better than GD recruiting. Far better.

@mgambi, these battles happen all the time here and in real life. No recruit is safe until they sign, so don’t get am
attached to them. Always be prepared to lose a few recruits during the process and have some backups in mind.

Agree with david on HD vs GD recruiting - except for the coin flip aspect after all recruiting efforts are used.

Kinda like Zeke's idea of not losing your money if you lose a battle. Not too realistic for real life but would add some twists for this game.

I had a guy turn green after fighting for him with Sims. a few rounds later a human coach shows up turns him yellow. I turn him back green. few rounds later he shows yellow again with the same guy. this feels a little messed up, or am I just wrong in my thinking? how do you guys feel about this?
All players are game till they sign with a team. If someone is fighting you chech if the other coach has a higher rating then chech how the team has faired going back 4-5 seasons and chech their win lose. How far the team has gone in the playoffs. If they are winning consistently and your team is not. It is probably time to cut the player free. An other thing to check is how many players that he needs. If he has a lot players to get compared to you. Chances he will win. Also he may sacrifice a couple of players and use that money to make sure that he gets the playe
I someone keeps turning a player then let the player go after a couple of turns.

Oh and by the way.. A coach keeps taking your players towards the end of recruiting. They are known as SWOOPERS. They were given that name way back in WIS beginning. Personally I detest and loath when someone does it. But hey it is part of the game.
Tried to get WIS to some how to change it but wont.

One of the worst things a recruiter can do is recruit with emotion! Don't let the recruit into your heart, see him for what he is, a POSSIBLE addition to your team. There are always other recruits that are close in potential and ratings that will come cheaper than an extended battle that dries up your budget and you're still left with a 50/50 shot of landing that recruit if the battle is between you and 1 other coach. Now I'm not saying to NOT battle if you want a guy, I'm saying disconnect your emotions and focus like a general manager - look for alternatives that will suffice AND leave you more $$$ for other efforts. It takes a lot of time and research to get a sense of when to cut your losses and go elsewhere and there's no magic pill to help learn that. Getting my a55 handed to me in battles is the way I learned and honestly, I still suffer from the occasional emotional tug. Hell, I once battled for a loser recruit just because he was from my high school. He never started and seldom played but at least I could tell my wife I had a kid on my roster from CHS! HA
