As a Blue Jays fan who watched nearly game this year, a couple of the defense ratings are baffling:
INF Ernie Clement led the league in defensive WAR (per Baseball-Reference), yet here he’s given D range at 3B and D- at 1B/2B/SS.
OF Myles Straw finished 6th in defensive WAR, but he’s also tagged with D- range.
I don’t know how WIS is calculating this, but these guys aren’t fire hydrants. They’re quick, mobile defenders.
THANK YOU. i was going to post something similar from the perspective of a Braves fan. Somehow Nick Allen was also saddled with D- range, and the advanced defensive metrics (OAA, DRS, Fielding Run Value) rate him among the best defensive SS in all of baseball.
