This is not everyone who is on the ballot, just everyone who a) made the ballot and b) I've already done the math for...but aside from Fernandez I don't think there are many major names missing (please point someone out if I missed them!) Given all that, I think Almadova, Colon and Fernandez would be the only players I'd entertain the idea of endorsing as a lock while there are a few others (Standridge, Park, Guillen, Gamboa) I'd lump in the "Hall of Very Good" category to start with and possibly pick one or two to give a non-vote lock depending on how others are feeling.

I tend to agree. Park is a tweener, but maybe deserves a vote, too. Similar feeling with Adams. Anyone else have thoughts?

Agree on Alex Fernandez, but I think Francisco Chavez is worthy of a lock, or at least a strongly suggested. This short king has all the bonafides and hardware — six All-Star games, five Silver Sluggers, two MVP, a Gold Glove, a Rookie of the Year and a World Series ring. He was a plus defender at third base (135 plus plays, 4 minus plays) who batted .311/.370/.586 (.956 OPS) with 564 home runs. That's a Hall of Famer, my friends.

I agree on Chavez.

I think we have two truly elite candidates this year. Fernandez is obvious, inner circle HOF, we'll all agree on that. Chavez is a beast. A .956 OPS, 500+ HR, 135 ++ plays/a .976 career fielding % at 3B? I mean, that's basically Mike Schmidt. To me those two are easy. The more difficult ones come after - there's a bunch of guys in that Standridge/Lowe/Alvarez/almadova grouping... the one that stands out the most to me is Enrique Gamboa. 7 time all-star, strong RF/1B with 2400 hits and 500/500 HR/SB. He's the closest to lock status for me but I don't think he quite makes the cut in this class. I'd be happy to rec those two as locks and feature the candidacies of that other group.
