Young player on my team, getting his first extended time in the big leagues, completely based on his power and eye.
He's dominated the minors and at age 23 and year 5 as a professional player, don't see any more real improvements coming. So he's basically a corner outfielder: 61 range, 61 glove, 71 arm strength, 66 accuracy. But he's getting a shot because of his power. His offensive ratings: 18 contact, 99 power, 76 eye with a L/R split of 60/55. Oh - and he's a switch hitter.
He's been a game changer with his power - and I like having a guy who can change a game with one swing (and can draw some walks). Yeah he'll strike out a ton. In current season, he's now playing everyday. Started in AAA and in 184 AB was slashing .321/.402./.750 (23 homers in 42 games).
Promoted him and current ML numbers are: 38 games, 138 AB, 15 homers, 42 RBI, 10 BB, 36K and slashing .312/.368/.688
I don't anticipate him being that good, of course, over a long haul. But what we are we thinking here? Big HR potential, .500+SLG, .330 OBP? His power and eye intrigue me. I'm wondering if he would comp to a real life Adam Dunn type of player.
