I have read this post with great interest. I have had teams in SLB since 2001 and I enjoy the site. I was able to win enough games early to build a fairly modest user rating. As I "learned" more about how to pick teams I became less successful! I have noticed the "success"of the owner in question and also the success of other owners with many different teams from league to league. I am supportive of some of the ideas I have seen here but also enjoy the OL. if there are older forum posts regarding team strategies that may still be relevant, I would appreciate a few links. I wish I could remember my simpler building strategies from 10-15 years ago but would they even work now? anyway...thanks for This discussion from an owner who does not field a lot of teams but really enjoys the league and the discussions
Thanks for your words of appreciation.

When I first posted this topic, it had no reply for a couple of days. I think that most owners didn't want to get into this kind of discussion and I expected that kind of reaction.
It's always a sensitive thing to point a finger publicly but I felt I had some very valid arguments, and I knew for certain, from comments posted in OL chats, that many other owners were feeling the same about that particular owner's cheap "strategy".

Thanks to everybody who read and commented, and Ozomatli's suggestion we might be heading toward some sort of a solution.
When was the last time this game had an actual update, other then adding yearly players? I won't get overly enthusiastic yet but we'll see.

As for my way of playing, as you pointed out, I try to field no more than 5-6 teams at a time because I really enjoy micro-managing and it does take a lot of time.
I read all boxscores to figure where things went right or wrong and how I can tweak my drafting, managing and strategies for next teams.
That's how I learned the game, going on baseball instinct and experimenting.

Of course I also read the forums and asked questions to get tips from some of the best owners and learn from their own experimentations, it can be a really fascinating game of numbers, but I also wanted to do it "my way".

I almost never draft deadballers, pitchers or batters. I like to draft players I have seen play the game on TV or at ballparks, players I grew up collecting baseball cards mostly. Sure once a while I'll try some of the older legends of the game but mostly, my rosters go from the 70's to the 90's for the main cast.

I'm obviously limiting myself but it's been working pretty good, I won two ToCs last month with such teams.

Anyhow, best of luck and hope to meet you in some OLs and theme leagues!

Also, if you're curious to know more about some of my strategies, feel free to dm me.

Yeah, this has been happening in every $80M ToC since Mwett started his little campaign.

I'm actually surprised you and szc have only played him once in that tournament so far. I have a friend who actually beat his team 3 times before reaching the final only to lose to it.

Yeah, that's baseball percentage. The better team will come out on top, most time, not ALL the time. You may beat that bonini team a few times but eventually, if you play it enough time, it will catch some breaks and beat you.

It's been really fun to come back to WIS after a long hiatus of personal life. I've always enjoyed the thrill of the game and one of my biggest loves of the game has been the names or nicknames that people used to give players. I love the nostalgia of Big Poison and Little Poison. All the Lefty's from Lefty McMullin to apparently the last "Lefty" Steve Carlton AND George "Lefty" Brunet (In the same year). You had great monikers like PeeWee Reese, The Penguin, Say Hey Kid, Dazzy, Dizzy, Chicken Wolf, and the list goes on. We have the names from today, yesterday, and the earliest years. It's all fascinating to me. I have to do the research to find out how guys' names like Chicken Wolf evolved from William Van Winkle "Jimmy" Wolf. He was a childhood friend of WIS favorite Pete Browning! The stadiums of yesteryear have been so intriguing. I love to learn where they were and what the property has become now. My point, if there is one to contribute, is that I am sure there are a group of people who just want to draft a team with players they love and see how it goes, but competitive nature prevails and you want to win. I was going to join open leagues but this is an unfortunate obstacle to learn about. Now I rethink my ideas for players and I don't want to play cookie cutter teams but I want to still use old timers. Also unfortunate because I don't want to crush people but all I see in exhibitions and opens via the link for World Series matchups is a lot of the same roster types in open leagues. I'm excited to be back and I have loved drafting the teams I have for the theme leagues I have joined. So far I am being reminded of mistakes I have made with managing my team's innings in the advanced settings, but I have to learn the game again. That is the fun in the sim and what draws, keeps, and brings us all back to WIS. In the end, it's the love for the game!! Side note: It would be fun to have a thread for favorite baseball nicknames and baseball parks.

How sad and empty must the guy's life be?

After admitting that his life's purpose was to "make a mockery of the game" of WIS Baseball OLs.
It seems that his focus, or rather obsession, has now entirely shifted on me.
His life's purpose is now to enter an OL I'm in, hoping to ruin my life or something...

I've noticed that every single time I enter a team in an OL, he will wait for the last spot, in order to sneak in, hoping the league gets locked before I notice and leave.
Then he posts a retarded comments like "Run Billie Eilish run!" in the league chat.

Seriously, the guy has to be refreshing the OL page constantly, everyday, hoping, praying, that he finally sees my name enter the league so he can "ruin my day" and harass me in the chat box.

What a sad little child...

seems like banning him from SLB would be the easiest solution at this point given his comments in the forum and general behavior

I like OL and have missed the owner (in question) in most...Not the latest , however...we'll see what happens. Still like the site and the fun of trying to win (which happened more when I started than now.)..still learning and enjoy ALL of your insights! Thanks!

So I just read mwetty's post in the OL I joined. BM1's comments are spot on though reserved. Nothing in the post I saw was redeeming to MW in any way ( I have to guess he reads this because the one post I saw tells me he would)

You're very welcome.

And about this thread, he's definitely reading it, no doubt about it. He keeps bringing it up in league chats.
He doesn't dare post or reply in here because he'd ridicule himself, there hasn't been one single positive comment about him.

But basically yes, he's harassing me, and it's keeping me from entering OLs.
I currently have 10 teams sitting in draft center, ready to enter an OL, plus roughly 19000 reward points, but I'm not using any of it because I don't want to enter a league he's in to avoid the usual harassment.

I won't even post in theme leagues if I join a league, to avoid having him enter the same theme.
The guy has been literally stalking me.

He even mentioned a test post I had made in the *dead* MMA topic forum.
I had tested posting with images, then deleted it. Guess what, he mentioned it in the 2025 players thread.

I've been the most outspoken about him, I felt he needed to be exposed, but he's obviously annoying a lot of other owners. This threads proves it and OL and ToC chats have been filled with posts about people tired of his crap.
There are half a dozen owners who have DM me to express support for my post and share their negative experience with him in various leagues, so the feeling is shared.

That being said, do I expect any type of support or move from admin. I doubt it.
