Fantastico. I went back to season 4 and this was the last vote that we had on the subject:
2) In lieu of a formal banned round--
3 YES- 1 ban
to be used for each owner by end of 3rd round. No banning same position as your selection. Max of four bans per position per round.
1 YES- 2 bans
to be used for each owner by end of 3rd round (limit of 1 ban per round). No banning same position as your selection. Max of six bans per position per round.
6 NO-
remain with the formal banned round as-is
1 undeclared
Remaining votes: roadhouse, riverratk, specsman, rjk, kaniac
I proposed a moving ban during the draft to make it more interesting. People did not like the idea! I just felt the banned round was really stale and uninteresting in year 2 of it. Mostly the same bans that would always keep them off a team every season. People mailing it in and dumping it on something not worthy of ban. Not how you want the first day to go after all the work put in for a live draft.
If people aren't fond of the simultaneous banning and drafting on day one, then we could consider a ballot of bans sort of like some of the NBA sim theme leagues do. They use it to land players unique to their wish list.
Here's a new idea on the topic:
We could have everyone provide a list of 20 bans. This is actually really interesting.... You could ban whoever you want at the 9 spots- QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, Def. ST, K. P. No limits or caps per the spots. Do whatever you want. We gather up and tally the bans. Say if we have 15 owners times 20 bans, you have 300 votes to get the top 24 players or units to be banned. This would be pretty neat to see the results.
You could be serious with it and ban all studs. You could be by design-- ban people that you don't want, but others do. Ban those cheap kickers, punters or Special Teams options to make others spend more. Pick all QBs. Pick no QBs. Use the bans any way you choose. And that makes the live draft far more interesting in my opinion. And each year people come back with a different ban plan and draft strategy based off that. Additionally, we will not have a boring ban of the same thing and people might get a shot at having the elite players. Perhaps a Beta test could be done to see if we like the idea.
