3. 1983 George Brett

525 PAs of reliable production, perfect for resting against tough lefties, and positional flexibility for a paltry $4.4M. Comes with Gaylord Perry and Vida Blue, along with potential backend rotation help in Larry Gura and Danny Jackson and a great bullpen arm in Quisenberry, plus perennial favorite Willie Wilson.

2. 1990 Barry Bonds

.974 OPS#, B/B defense in the OF and 52/65 in SBs for under $7M. Reuss and Drabek work as back of the rotation SPs, and Zane Smith, Tomlin, Landrum, Kipper, and Belinda is pretty close to an entire bullpen. LaValliere/Slaught is a great catching platoon, and who doesn't love Bonilla in their lineup (other than the Mets who are still paying him)?

1. 1989 Kevin Mitchell

This one stuns me. Yes, $7.3M is a bit high for a corner OF in a $100M DH league, but Mitchell always flat-out rakes, even at higher caps than this one. And this team has a ready-made solid rotation in Hammaker, Garrelts, Knepper, and Reuschel. Or you can use Reuschel in the bullpen along with Gossage, Bedrosian and Lefferts. Butler is a good starting CF, and "Will the Thrill" and the oft-overlooked Robby Thompson work well at this cap. This is one of my favorite two-team twist rosters, and if I had submitted a second team I would've likely included this one.

Honorable mention: 2016 David Ortiz (perfect $100M DH with a ton of great relievers, plus Mookie Betts and Kung Fu Panda), 1986 Mike Schmidt (one of his most cost-effective seasons along with Daulton, Garry Maddox, Steve Carlton, and 5 or 6 usable bullpen arms), 1934 Ripper Collins (literally never fails to produce, and comes with Dazzy Vance, Dizzy Dean, Ducky Medwick and The Fordham Flash Frankie Frisch).
