I was curious if anyone had any insight into whether the SIM's placement of the 24 teams into 6 divisions is fully random or not?
As bests s I can tell, teams are added into divisions when they join, and that order appears to be NL east-Central-West; then AL east-central-west.
Then of course the draw itself is done once 24 teams have filled a league. I am not sure how much time must pass between the league filling and the draw taking place but it appears to be 3-4 hours at least (I am not sure if the determining factor is that the draw occurs after an exact amount of time after 24 teams have joined; or if all full leagues have their draw done at a specific time of day. would be curious if anyone knows for sure?)
The reason I ask is that to me, it seems to appear that when the draw is done, every (or at least very close to every) team in the NL will end up in an AL division and vice versa. And not once can I recall a situation where 2 teams who were in the same division when signing up (i.e. before the draw) have ever appeared to be in the same division after the draw is done. ff the draw really is random that should occur, in fact I'd likely think it would occur slightly more often Han the odds would suggest that it should happen (For Any data set with a large sample size I would argue that it "must" occur from time to time at the very least)
The main reason I ask is that when I join a league I almost always find myself going back to the draft center to make changes for one reason or another.
So I am curious because if I join. a league and say I am in a division right away with 3 players who id love to avoid being paired with during the season, am I hurting my chances by leaving and re-joining? Based on what I hint at above, I should have no chance of being in the same division as those owners during the season. But of course, if the draw is truly random, it should//would make no difference at all.
I cannot recall any instance where I have been placed in a division with a team that was in the same league (not just division) as myself pre-draw. It is always 3 teams from the opposite league.
While I do realize there is a high probability I am only noticing facts to support my personal biases, I wanted to ask those with more knowledge so that I could better grasp how things work
Thank you in advance to those reading this and anyone who takes the time to share their thoughts. Have a great day everyone.
