PPF Needs ONE Cardinals fan for a GREAT franchise! Topic

We have an owner leaving our league due to personal reasons. Our CARDINALS team is open. The draft for our next season begins on JULY 29th. There are no keepers list to post in this league, and drafts start and end on time and off-seasons run smoothly.

League details below, then team details next.

Past Present Future will soon start our 16th season. We have one openings for an excellent franchise - the St. Louis Cardinals.

In this league, you get to advance with a real life franchise year to year, while making them much more competitive each season - adding 10 players from various teams and eras. It's much simpler than it sounds and quite a fun mix of consistency and novelty!

16 team league - 4 teams per division. 2 round post-season between the four division leaders.
NO to DH, WW, trading. NO salary cap, NO I/R or keepers lists.
25 players, 5/4 AAA of up to 9 real life players (although you won't likely need them)
Use the stadium your franchise did in real life in our given year.

1) Start with your full 1985 roster - up to 24 players (Present)
2) Add 2 players - 1 hitter, 1 pitcher - from the 2013 version of your franchise. (Future)
3) Add 2 more players - 1 hitter, 1 pitcher - from the 2003 version of your franchise. (Future)
4) Draft 6 players in the league-wide six round draft.
--You draft 2 players - 1 hitter, 1 pitcher - from the distant past, in this year from 1918. (Past)
--You draft 4 players - 2 hitters, 2 pitchers - from the 10 unused franchises in 1985. (Present)

FRANCHISES in the league
AL East: Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Cleveland
AL West: Chicago WS, Oakland, Houston, Kansas City
NL East: Atlanta, Pittsburgh, New York Mets, Montreal
NL West: Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals , San Diego

Unused Franchises, whose players are available in the draft:
Angels, Phillies, Brewers, Rangers, Reds, Phillies, Giants, Orioles, Mariners, Twins

Draft order is from worst to first, based on real-life 1985 regular season records.

Every season, we advance by one year. Franchises and old-time players advance by one year. The 4 time traveling players from your franchise move forward one year too. (e.g. next year, you'll have your 1986 franchise, and the 2 players from 2014 and 2 from 2004.) And the 6-round draft will draw from all 1919 players, as well as unused franchise players from 1986)

This league was founded by fatguyrd, who passed away in 2024. We continue in his memory and because it's a great league, an interesting concept with a very short draft every year.

Get in on those great Cardinals teams of the 80s! Ozzie Smith, Jack Clark, Willie McGee, Vince Coleman, John Tudor and more!

You also get to bring back four players from the future 21st century Cardinals teams, who are just stacked with talent!

I'm interested. Question, is everyone in 1918 available? Do I lose them next season, and draft 6 players from 1919 to replace them?

Thanks for the interest, rmarksduke.
--The league has no keepers. The six players you draft each year are one-year rentals.
--Each season you start with your real life franchise and the four players you bring back from the designated future seasons. Then you get to supplement that roster with four players from the present and two from the past.
--For this season's 6-round draft, you are allowed 2 pics (one hitter, one pitcher) from 1918, and yes, the whole player pool is eligible. And you are allowed 4 picks (two hitters, two pitchers) from the 1985 free agents (10 franchises not being used).

Let me know if you'd like to take a look at the league forums so you can see how last year's draft played out, or if you're ready to take the team.
