Hey All - I love the random assignment leagues, and had an idea for a simple one. This theme assigns each team a unique distribution of hitter and pitcher handedness requirement by position. That said, this is a new theme (at least to me) so if there are any glaring issues or you have suggestions, I'm open to changing things until folks have started building rosters.

League Settings

• Salary Cap: $90 million

• DH: Yes (DH is a wild card; see below)
• No injuries, trades, WW, or AAA.

• Seasons Covered: 1930–Present

• Stadiums: Must be from the era (1930–Present)

Hitter Assignments

• Positions randomized: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF (DH is not randomized). Assignments are generated via Random.org using weighted list randomization.

• Distribution per position: 45% Right-handed, 45% Left-handed, 10% Switch-hitter (roughly historically accurate to league history)

• You must draft a player at each listed position who matches the handedness you’re assigned

• DH is a wild card: any handedness allowed but primary position must be DH.

Pitcher Assignments

• Pitchers are assigned a handedness (LHP or RHP) via random.org

• You must draft at least 1,100 IP from pitchers of your assigned handedness (counted across your entire staff).
• Remaining innings may be any handedness.

Roster Construction Rules

Hitters:

• Must be drafted at their primary position and match the assigned handedness.

• Do not check “Include Secondary Positions” when drafting.

• Switch-hitters are only eligible if the assigned handedness is “Switch.”

• Bench Players: Must follow the same handedness assignment rules and qualify for their intended primary position.
• Secondary Positions: Players may play at secondary positions but MUST be drafted with their primary position (e.g. any player whose primary position is catcher must follow the assigned handedness rules assigned for catcher, but may be your starter at their secondary position(s) if you choose regardless of that position's assigned handedness).

Pitchers:

• Owners must draft at least 1,100 IP from pitchers of the assigned handedness (any mix of SP and RP you choose).

• Teams may draft additional pitchers of either handedness beyond the minimum.

Assignments will be generated using random.org. If anyone wants to verify my draw, I’ll gladly provide a timestamped screenshot of the randomization results.
