OK, I'll try it again Topic

Hey all,
A while back I did a little bit of testing for Ed's recruiting tool using my old test acct. If you haven't tried Ed's product I highly recommend it, it's a fantastic tool (search the forum for latest info). Be sure to send him some love via his financial links. While I was doing that test I had someone ask me about this game and I let him use that testing acct (VATech). However, it didn't take but a couple seasons before he said he was overwhelmed with the intracacies of this game so I'm currently finishing out his remaining teams but not renewing any of them for VATech. As part of my involvement I noticed that I still have that itch for this game even though there are (were?) areas that really sucked for one reason or another. But the allure was still there. And I've had some good discussions with other coaches recently about the new management and some, albeit slight, improvements in the game. Couple this with some other factors and I've decided to get back into WIS GD. BUT, I will NOT be revitalizing TTATO for the time being. Having said all that I feel I would be remiss if I didn't address some of the "cheating" or "loophole" concerns that exist(ed) years ago. First, I have no specific details of how certain individuals were able to leverage certain aspects (math?) of this game to become uber successful. Secondly, any other specifics I knew about I've already divulged on this forum and I believe WIS has already addressed some those "loopholes". More importantly, this shouldn't devolve into a thread of who did what when nor should it become splattered with accusations or inuendos. If you do a quick search you can find multiple threads on this subject and while some of those contain specifics many are just speculative posts. Again, I've spilled all the beans I know and quite honestly it's clear none of the info I absolutely knew about was in anyway the secret to immediate success, hell, look at my record and see for yourself! I started playing this game in 2005 so for almost 20 years I've had teams - except for a hiatus here and there - and had just a handful of NCs. And trust me, none of what I knew lead directly to any NC, more times than not the NCs were due to a previous coach's success before I took over that team. Anyway, hope to battle many of you again and GLTROTW!

Welcome back old fart! Hope you enjoyed your vacations!

Ha, emphasis on OLD! Thanks for the re-welcome. The vacations were great but I have to admit the 7-country, 17 cities, in 18 days European vacation plumb tuckered me out. Still trying to recuperate 4 months later!

Small world!! Know Stuttgart well. Played American football against them in youth sports when we lived in Wertheim. Had a girlfriend who lived in Stuttgart for a spell. And I transitioned through Ramstein and Rhein Main a bunch of times while in the Air Force. Good times though!

I don't think too much has changed since you last played. I have a suspicion that the devs tamped down the passing offenses a smidge, particularly the absurdly prolific passing to the RB. I have no hard evidence, just what I've seen anecdotally. I think they may have achieved this by slightly increasing the starting attributes of linebacker recruits. I feel like I'm seeing more linebacker recruits with good pass coverage attributes now than I used to a year or two ago. I sense that they might also have slightly goosed the starting attributes for DB recruits, though not as much as they did with LBs. It seems to me that they also might have slightly reduced the starting attributes of RB recruits. I feel like I'm not seeing as many D1 RB recruits with 90-90-90 (Spd, Elu, Hands) as I did a year or two ago. Again, I don't have any hard data on any of this, just my sense of what I have observed over the last year or two.

One other thing that has changed since new ownership took over . . . The servers are painfully slow, especially during the first day of recruiting, and submitting recruiting moves takes forever long.
