Formation IQ and Recent Adjustments Topic

So, I've been playing for several years with better than average success. However, I have always downplayed the importance of Formation IQ and for the longest time I ran one offensive/one defensive formation while only putting 11 minutes to each. I obviously have done ok with that, but with the general consensus that you should put more minutes towards formation IQ, I started making some adjustments a while ago to see how they would (or would not) impact my team's play. So, a while back I went to 16 minutes per formation and found that I gained about 4-5 points of formation on my offense and gained about 3-4 on defense (both teams). I then changed it up to 13 on offense and left my defense at 16. I only lost a point on offense formation but found that my personal growth season to season was averaging only about a one point from when I was running everything at 11. Now I know there are other variables such as GPA, but this is over about 8 seasons on two different teams so while it might fluctuate some based on new players coming in with either high or low GPA's, it just felt that was the sweet spot for me. Also, I moved my Special teams to 16 and then back to 13, with only a 3-point difference seen with all the changes (i.e.-not a big deal).

And yes, I realize my two teams are in D1AA and that formation IQ is more important at D1A, but at D1AA and with some of the great coaches there (looking at you Sternes ), I would think it would be just about as important since the top teams in D1AA are probably as good as a lot of the teams in DIA.

So here is my question, I have read that a lot of people like to give around 21 or even up to 25 minutes on formation IQ (which really seems excessive to me) and wanted to get everyone's opinions on where you think the sweet spot is?
