Cobb has rolled and will begin its 75th season, hard to believe so much time has passed and that we have one vacancy. As you can imagine with so many seasons completed, this is a very solid world with some of the best owners in HBD. If you have the skills to battle amongst the best, then this will be a test you will not want to pass up. The one team available in the NL and has the makings of playoff team having just posted 87 wins. Can you make the improvements necessary to lead this team to a deep playoff run that is capped with a WS Trophy? Then contact alogman1 quick so that you can show off your team building skills. Here's a brief review of each of the teams:
NL East
The former Philadelphia Franchise (95-67, 1st pl)
A 13 yr stay by a storied owner for this team was quickly followed by a brief two yr stay by the latest person at the controls of this team. The dynamic duo of Jack Stanley (.312, 24, 102) & Jeremy White (.280, 45, 132) led a team that relied heavily on the long ball as the 223 dingers showed last season. Three other players chipped in, but the fact is the 756 runs scored and .259 avg needs to be improved on if this team expects to take home the playoff hardware.
On the hill, the top 5 ERAs came from the pen as they were led by closer, Bo Helms (42/47, 1.84). Footsie Steele (15-11, 3.49), Warren Johnson (13-10, 4.37), & Stephen DeWitt (14-10, 4.47) were solid rotation pieces but in the playoffs solid may not be enough so improving this group would be wise.
This is a solid team that a veteran owner could acquire a few pieces to upgrade the quality of the offense and pitching to make this a truly lethal team. A veteran could have a good time guiding this ship. A newbie would need to carefully and most likely, slowly add pieces as they became familiar with the game's nuances.
NL West
The Former San Francisco Franchise (87-75, 2nd pl)
A four-year run with two 1st place finishes and two second place finishes couldn't keep the owner from leaving after missing the playoffs for the first time. Philip Mann (32, 113, .295), Vic Mustelier (18, 55, .289), & Tomas Bonilla (19, 93, .285) set the tone for the offense. This team hit over 200 HRs but again scored less than 800 runs and put up a .257 avg. Power is not the problem, but it's not the solution for the team by the bay either.
The top four starters are solid with Darrell Brownson (13-2, 2.69) leading the way, even though he missed some time on the DL he was still Cy Young material. With a team ERA of 3.97 the staff is solid, however there were 20 blown saves that if addressed could lead to bigger and better things.
In my opinion adding a couple of solid OBP guys and a top end closer would solidify this team. This is another case of a team that a veteran owner would be equipped to add pieces to the core that provides a nice starting point. On the other hand, a newbie might find this a bit of a challenge and if not patient could find themselves moving in the wrong direction.
So, it's time to act and the ball is in your court, there is only one team left and it won't last long. Contact alogman1 now with your interest in joining us!
