KML Season 25 - Filled Topic

Kenesaw Mountain Landis is going into its 25th season of existence. We have had a strong core of owners for awhile now, and we are looking for a few more to keep us going for next season and beyond! Openings are below with last year's team information. You can choose any city you want when you replace them.

Over half of KML's owners have been around for at least 10 seasons, and 2/3 have been around for at least 5 seasons. Since I've taken over as commissioner, our wait times between seasons have been minimal. So you can count on a great group of owners and not having to wait months between seasons if you join us!

We also have a 3-year, 180 win MWR (cannot have fewer than 55 wins in consecutive seasons) to help avoid ultra tanking.

Current Openings:
AL North
New York (62-100)
New York is a rebuild with some talent to build around. Only 5 players on their ML roster are over the age of 30 and they have a lot of young players trying to make their mark, including former #2 pick Farmer Haynes, 25-year old Hector Castillo, and 23-year old pitcher Dwight Johnson. Some of their more recently acquired prospects include #5 pick Sam Ramirez, former #25 pick Brett Simon, former #16 pick Blake Meyer, and IFA Rafael James. They only have about $34 million in assigned contracts for next season, so the next owner can build out the team in the way they see fit.

Minnesota (84-78)
A team on the rise, Minnesota finally ended their playoff drought by winning the AL North for the first time in 20 seasons. They did it with a mixture of young players and vets. Some of their young core includes 24-year old 3B Roger Atchison, 26-year old RF Forrest Rossy, 26-year old CF Andrew Donovan, and 26-year old 2B Yovani Torres. I know overall ratings aren't everything, but these guys are all above 80 overall. Some of their veterans have expiring contracts in season 24, but returning players include potentially SS Nigel Walker (Mutual Option in Season 25) and LF/2B Ernesto Perez, among a few others. Not to take all the spotlight away from the ML guys, they have some decent prospects as well including former #9 pick CF Pat Brett, former #10 pick LF Felix Stroman, and former #35 pick 3B Bobby Simpson. In additio to their normal 1st, they have the 16th pick from a Type D pick last season. With some of their impending free agents, they should pick up at least a couple of extra picks, so there's room to add to the prospect pool through the draft this season. Additionally, they only have $20 million in assigned contracts for Season 25, so there's a great opportunity for the next owner to either go into win-now mode or keep building for the future!

NL North
Chicago (87-75)
The team most in win-now mode Chicago had a solid season but missed the playoffs by two games in a crowded playoff race. They are build around their pitching staff which finished with the league's 3rd best ERA and have some solid players such as future hall of famer reliever Cookie Figaro, ace SP Rich Strickland, and setup man Napoleon Gaynor. Despite having some later picks, their owner still managed to build out a decent prospect pool. Some of Chicago's prospects include Oscar Shibata, Dillon Fossum, Miguel Costilla, and Didi Correa. They need a few tweaks to get over the hump, but they have a solid foundation of players to build around
.

NL South
Houston (74-88)
Houston has been trying to get over the playoff hump in recent seasons, but has been unsuccessful. The last owner had a large payroll in Season 24, but had the majority of contracts end this past season, so whoever takes owner will only have about $25 million in predetermined contracts. Houston does have some good players in arbitration, so they will have to budget to sign guys like star pitcher BJ Valaika, career 0.872 OPS hitter Henderson Reddick, and solid reliever Raymond Branson among others. Even with some of these arbitration guys, there should still be plenty of money left over to go out and build your own team. They called up some of their more recent draft picks to get some playing time in the majors so they probably need more seasoning in the minors, but they include Buck Bell (Season 24, pick 11), Del Yoshii (Season 23, pick 7), Lastings Rudolph (Season 22, pick 14), and Emmett Walker (Season 21, pick 12). Houston is a team that could make the next step with the right owner at the helm.

NL West
Las Vegas (44-118)
Las Vegas is a team in the early stages of its rebuild. They had the same owner at the helm for 15 seasons, but unfortunately he disappeared, which caused the last couple of seasons to look pretty bad. However, the last two owners (replacement in Season 23 and new owner in Season 24 who needed to drop some teams) have gotten things in the right direction. This team is a rebuild, but one with some draft picks to build on and a very low financial commitment. This past season, Vegas had five top-50 picks including #2 overall. They took promising prospects Stevie LeBlanc, Timothy Taylor, Howie Stone, Jimmie Franco, and Reggie Davis. They also made some trades to bring in prospects like Milton Leon, Josmil Santayana, Kelvim Ramsey, DaRond Travis, and Bernie Soriano. Vegas has only $17 million in committed contracts for Season 25 and the #1 pick in this season's draft. In addition to the first pick in the 2nd round, they also have the third pick in the 2nd round from a Type D pick. This is a team that could be a fun rebuild for whoever takes it over
.
