In this league you choose a franchise and then build your roster from players who at one time played for that franchise. However, you can only use player seasons in which the player played with a different franchise. For example, if you chose to use the Cubs franchise you could use Lou Brock from one of his Cardinal seasons, but not from any of his Cub seasons. Combined stat seasons can be used, but you can’t use any version of a player that WIS identifies as being from your chosen franchise.
If you choose to use a post 1950’s expansion franchise, you may optionally combine them with one of the four 1990s era franchises (i.e. Rockies, Rays, Diamondbacks, Marlins). For example, you could combine the Mets & Marlins and use ex-players from either of those franchises. However, you could then not use any Marlins or Mets seasons for any of your players.
Baseball-reference.com will be used as the source of franchise/player histories. First follow the link to: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/. When you click on a franchise a page will open with drop down menus on the left side. Click on the menu titled ‘People’, and then click on ‘Batting’ under the ‘Players’ menu. That will open up a list of all of the players who ever played for that franchise, including years when the franchise was based in a different city and/or used a different nickname. There is also a separate section labeled ‘Pitching’, but I believe that all of the pitchers in that section already appear in the ‘Batting’ list. All of your team’s players must come from these lists.

Your home field must be a park that your franchise called home at some point during its history. Alignment will be chronological based on each team's earliest pitcher season used. Owners may enter 2 teams using different franchises, but only if their earliest pitching seasons put them in separate leagues. Franchises are not exclusive, and there is no limit on the number of owners who may use a given franchise. However, returning owners may not use the same franchise that they used in a previous season of the league.
