With the blessing of ermocito, we will begin a complementary Franchise Draft League running 1901-1960, the first 60 years of Major League Baseball (AL and NL) just before expansion.
The league will run very similarly with minor modifications to allow for 24 teams.
You draft at least 1 player from each franchise listed below in the 1901-1960 configuration (2 players with your 1st pick, playing in their division and stadium).
- Each owner's "double pick" for their round 1 team (which is how we get 25 players from 24 franchises) is due in the 1st window. Each person's 3rd pick is due in the 3rd window, but in each round each player is picking from a different franchise as listed below.
- "Full/Partial seasons only" rule to avoid the possibility of duplication with combined seasons.
- We will allow owners to register for a 2nd team but will again put them in a separate division (preferably separate league). We will use 2nd owners as needed - depending on the speed at which the league fills. If your post says you are willing, I will add you to that list as well.
- We will start with 2 picks/day and accelerate to 4/day. Two per day means one MORNING (due by 4pm eastern) and one EVENING pick (due by 4am eastern the next day). If you miss your window, the next person can pick ahead of you - but you can't slide back more than one position for each 12 hours. You can still pick ahead if all rounds ahead of you for that team have been selected. After a few days, we accelerate to 4 per day.
- The 25th pick (round 24) is the ONLY round where you can mulligan - because no one else's picks were altered by your final pick.
- In future seasons, we will ensure no team starts with the same franchise for at least 5 seasons.'
- To get to 24 teams, the following franchises (Yankees, Red Sox, Cleveland, Detroit, Giants, Dodgers, Cardinals, and Cubs) will be split into 1901-30 and 1931-1960 meaning each owner will draft at least two players from each of these franchises and owners who are assigned these franchises in the 1st round will have three players from these franchises (2 from one era, and 1 from the other). You will not however be able to have a clone from the same franchise meaning if you draft 1901-30 Gehrig with the Yankees, you cannot draft him again when it is your turn to draft 1931-60.
RULES:
Franchise Draft, 1901-1960
This will be a 24 round draft, drafting from a different franchise (see 24 "franchises" listed below) each round. Once we get 24 owners, we will randomly assign a first round draft order, and
each owner will be randomly assigned a “Double 1st Pick” franchise (franchises listed below).
We will then conduct a 24 round draft where each round, each owner selects a player from the franchise assigned to them for that round (1901-1960 only). Two rounds per day, going to 4 per day with rd 16. Twice each day, the player picks from their team for that round. I will do my best to update the front page frequently and will accept volunteers to create a spreadsheets and/or updates with columns for each team. This helps move the draft along.
Players are exclusive WITHIN franchises, but are not exclusive across franchises.
To keep with the spirit of the theme,
combined seasons will NOT be allowed, we will use
Full or Partial only. When you are researching,
use the box for "Season Type:" and select full/partial. You are
NOT allowed to use combined seasons, so if you do the search correctly, you can exclude seeing those results.
Also, make sure your team name contains a reference to the double pick franchise you represent.

$120M salary cap.
